WhatsApp abandoned-cart recovery for WooCommerce

Why a WhatsApp message wins back more abandoned carts than email, and how to do it right: customer consent, message timing, discount coupons and measuring recovered revenue.

Many shoppers add products to the cart, reach checkout and leave. In Arab stores most customers type a phone number rather than an email, and emails get opened far less anyway. That makes a WhatsApp message the most direct way to bring them back.

How WhatsApp recovery works

  1. The shopper types their phone at checkout, so the cart is saved even if they don't finish.
  2. If they haven't ordered within an hour, they get a WhatsApp message with a Complete my order button.
  3. One tap restores their cart and details, and they finish in seconds.
  4. Still no order? An optional second message a day later with a discount coupon.

Do it right so you don't annoy customers

  • Consent: recovery messages are marketing, so shoppers must agree to receive them. Add an opt-in checkbox at checkout.
  • Stop button: every message needs a one-tap way to stop further messages.
  • Don't overdo it: two messages is enough, and never more than one a day per number.
  • Skip people who ordered: if they ordered from another device, no reminder.

Cost

Meta counts cart-recovery messages as marketing and charges per message by country. Compare that to the value of recovered orders: one recovered order usually pays for many messages.

Measure the result

  • How many carts captured a phone number.
  • How many messages went out and how many shoppers tapped Complete my order.
  • How many orders followed, and what they were worth.

Yakeen Pro does all of this in WooCommerce: cart capture, messages, coupon, consent, the stop button and stats on recovered revenue.
